1. NordicTrack S22i

Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
13kg |
Console |
22" iFit Compatible HD Touchscreen |
Max. User Weight | 160kg |
From the NordicTrack S series, the S22i stands out as our pick for Best Spin Bike thanks to its 2024 update.
The S22i is whisper-quiet while riding thanks to the Patented Silent Magnetic Resistance System (SMR). Which is adjusted electronically through the built-in 22" HD Touchscreen console.
A unique feature that we don't see on many spin bikes is the ability to shift from a -10% decline to a 20% incline. This adds an extra level of intensity and realism to your workouts.
Being iFit compatible, the S22i has access to a wide range of workouts from cycling through custom routes on Google Maps to studio classes. Plus, the swivelling screen lets you also follow along to yoga classes and even cooking classes through iFit.
Though there's a monthly iFit fee, you get a 30-day free trial to test out the interactive features.
If you decide you don't want to pay the monthly membership, even without iFit, you still get access to all the basic workout information and have access to several pre-programmed workouts.
However, one downside of the S22i is that it can only be used with iFit and isn't compatible with other interactive apps.
It is worth noting we are looking at the 2024 version of the S22i which received several upgrades. Such as they improved the HD smart touchscreen, doubled RAM (Radom Access Memory) and upgraded the WiFi adapter from 2.4 GHz to 5.0 GHz for a faster internet connection.
These upgrades have made the console feel smooth to use and enhanced the immersive feel of the interactive workouts.

2. Dripex Magnetic Indoor Stationary Bike - Best Budget Spin Bike

Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
8kg |
Console |
LCD Display |
Max. User Weight | 150kg |
If you are on a tight budget, the Dripex Magnetic Indoor Stationary Bike is a steal, currently priced under £200.
It comes with an 8kg flywheel which is whisper-quiet while being used and provides enough resistance for a cardiovascular workout. But it might lack the high-end resistance for interval training. However, if you are just looking to burn a few extra calories it does a great job.
The console is large and includes a built-in tablet holder. Although a second tablet holder is also embedded in the handlebars.
We haven't managed to workout why this bike needs 2 tablet holders and feel the console could have been made smaller without one built in. But if you like using multiple devices at once you might find this useful.
The console tracks all your essential workout metrics such as time, speed, distance, calories burned, odometer and heart rate through the built-in pulse sensors. But the pulse sensors don't appear to be very accurate which is a common issue on spin bikes in this price range but they still offer a ballpark measure of your workout intensity.
One point to be aware of, if you are taller than 6'1", you might find this bike a little cramped to use, although this will depend on how you like to ride.
However, minor quirks aside, its affordability combined with its features makes this bike a commendable choice for those wanting to boost their fitness without emptying their pockets.

3. Peloton Original Bike

Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
17kg |
Console |
21.5" HD Touchscreen |
Max. User Weight | 135kg |
The Peloton Original Bike has now become more budget-friendly since the COVID lockdown prices making it much more affordable.
One of the features that made Peloton so popular was their Peloton App which has a large community of 6.9 million total members.
The app offers a wide variety of workouts and includes extra classes such as Yoga, boot camps, meditation and more.
It comes with its iconic 22” screen gives a crisp display and is very responsive which is a common issue with many interactive touchscreens.
While being used the bike is almost silent as we would expect from a high-end magnetic resistance bike. It also provides plenty of resistance, managed through a simple turn dial ranging from 1 - 100.
Currently, Peloton will assemble the bike upon delivery for free. This helps to ensure you have the bike set up correctly and has no faults.

Nonetheless, it is still quite a large investment but Peloton also offers a 30-day home trial. So, if you try the bike out and decide it isn't the one for you, you can send it back. They will even pick it up for free, but double-check the terms beforehand just in case they have changed since writing this.
While Peloton are very generous with their services there are a few accessories which aren't included we feel should be.
Firstly, the bike features Delta clip-in pedals but the Peloton shoes which fit these clips aren't included and there is no built-in toe cage.
Secondly, the bike comes with dumbbell holders for a pair of lightweight dumbbells, but the dumbbells aren't included.
Overall, at the new reasonable price, it is much better value for money and it was a tough pick between this and the S22i.

4. Echelon Connect Sport Smart Exercise Bike

Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
7kg |
Console |
No Console |
Max. User Weight | 135kg |
The Echelon Connect Sport Smart Exercise Bike stands out as a budget-friendly alternative to pricier bikes with built-in screens, like the Peloton. Its price point is about half due to the absence of an integrated screen.
Instead, users can connect their own smart devices such as tablets or mobiles to bike through via the Echelon app and enjoy interactive workouts.
There is a tablet holder built into the handlebars, although we recommend getting an adjustable tablet holder from Amazon which you can connect to the handlebar for a better viewing angle.
At the time of writing this, Echelon is offering an extended 45-day free trial to their app, longer than the typical 30 days.
But even without a paid subscription, you can still use the 'freestyle ride' mode which provides all the basic information like resistance and cadence.
Unlike some bikes, the pedals only feature cages without cleat attachments. However, this won't matter unless you own cleats, and you can still swap out the pedals if you want to.
When you are pedalling, the bike is whisper quiet and offers 32 resistance levels controlled by a dial knob similar to the Peloton bike.
The Echelon Connect Sport Smart Exercise Bike is a great choice for those seeking a quality bike without the hefty price tag. With a good tablet and holder, you can have this bike set up to feel very similar to the Peloton bike.

Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
16kg |

Max. User Weight | 135kg |
The JTX Studio V5 is a solid semi-commercial choice, built with a strong frame and components it comes with an impressive 3-year home repair warranty, alongside a 1-year commercial warranty. This speaks volumes about JTX's confidence in this bike's durability.
We always like to support UK businesses and JTX is based here in the UK and has a showroom in West Sussex, so you can try before you buy.

6. Tunturi Fitrace 40 HR - Best Spin Bike Under £500

Resistance Type |
Friction |
Flywheel Weight |
22kg |
Console |
LCD Display 42mm x 77mm |
Max. User Weight | 135kg |
The Tunturi Fitrace 40 HR offers great value for money, available at around £400.
It comes with a heavy 22kg friction resistance flywheel which produces infinite adjustable resistance through the turn dial knob. There is also an emergency stop lever just in case you need to quickly end your workout.
While its monitor is a tad small, it clearly displays essentials like Time, Distance, Calories, Speed, Heart Rate and RPM through a moving dial graphic.
As you might be able to guess from the "HR" in its name, it is possible to connect analogue heart rate monitors (5 - 5.4Khz), though the chest belt isn't included.
It would be nice if it was compatible with Bluetooth chest belts but we would expect the bike to cost a little more Bluetooth connectivity.
The bike's pedals feature both a cage and SPD clips, a combo sometimes missing in pricier models.
To find a comfortable riding position for you, the seat can be adjusted vertically and horizontally and the handlebars vertically.
We have dealt with Tunturi for a number of years and their customer service is some of the best and if they have any issues they are resolved quickly thanks to their well-stocked warehouse in the Netherlands.
All in all, it's a good quality bike that provides a great workout.

7. JTX Cyclo 6 Indoor Cycling Exercise Bike

Resistance Type |
Friction |
Flywheel Weight |
22kg |
Console |
LCD Display 2" x 5" |
Max. User Weight | 135kg |
Here we have another option from JTX with the Cyclo 6 which is a premium quality choice for at-home workouts.
It provides a smooth ride with plenty of resistance from the heavy 22kg flywheel with its friction-based resistance.
Viewing your performance is clear thanks to the LCD display, which lists all vital metrics.
If you would like more workout options, it can be connected to various interactive apps, including the Peloton Digital app thanks to its Bluetooth connectivity.
While there are built-in pulse sensors for heart rate monitoring, if you are looking for very accurate readouts you might want to connect a Bluetooth chest belt.
The standard pedals come with a toe cage, but if you would like to use SPD clips they are an extra.
Although the bike comes with transport wheels, it is a heavy bike which makes it a little more difficult to move. But, this weight contributes to the bike's good stability during intense sessions.
Finally, as we would expect from JTX they provide a reassuring 2-year home use warranty.
So, if you are looking for a good quality home spin bike that can connect to interactive apps then here is another great option.

8. JLL IC300 Pro
Resistance Type |
Magnetic |
Flywheel Weight |
20kg |
Console |
LCD Display 2" x 5" |
Max. User Weight | 130kg |
The JLL IC300 Pro has been one of the top-selling home spin bikes in the UK for a number of years and it's easy to see why.
First off, being backed by JLL, a UK-based company known for good customer service, gives users added confidence.
Plus, it comes with a hefty 20kg flywheel which delivers a smooth and quiet magnetic resistance while also producing a substantial amount of resistance.
The integrated LCD display is clear and easy to read and shows your speed, distance, time, calories burned, and heart rate using the handlebar pulse sensors.
While these sensors might not be spot-on with their accuracy, it's a common issue in more budget-friendly gear, but they still offer some utility.
Even during high-intensity workouts, the bike feels stable showing the quality you get for under £300.
The JLL IC300 Pro does the basics very well and provides a good workout. So if you are looking for a good quality, no-frills spin bike that is good value for money then this could be a good choice for you.

9. Wenoker Indoor Cycle Exercise Bike - Best Spin Bike Under £300

Resistance Type |
Friction |
Flywheel Weight |
8kg |
Console |
LCD Display |
Max. User Weight | 136kg |
At the time of writing this, the Wenoker Exercise Bike is the bestselling budget-friendly spin bike in the UK.
Considering its price, it does the basics well with an easy-to-read LCD display showing time, speed, distance, calories, and odometer.
Plus, it has a larger-than-average seat that is well padded and avoids the common complaint about narrow road bike seats being uncomfortable.
Assembling the bike is straight, with a helpful video guide available which is shown below.
Although its flywheel weighs just 8kg, the inertia-enhanced system manages to produce a good level of resistance which can be adjusted through the turn dial knob and is very quiet when being used.
To keep the workouts interesting, there is also a tablet holder which doesn't cover the display. So you can watch a show and track your workout data at the same time. Some other models often have the tablet holder built into the console so you can't see the information and is an inconvenience.
While it's not the most advanced spin bike, the Wenoker is great value for money and gets the job done.
