What is iFit?

iFit is a streaming fitness service that allows you to stream high-quality, gym-style workouts directly to your television from the comfort of your own home. iFit is available via an exercise machine or a tablet or smartphone with iFIt installed.

NordicTrack, ProForm, and Freemotion exercise equipment from Cybex, Precor, and other brands can be used with iFit. You can even use treadmills, bicycles, ellipticals, rowers, resistance training machines with iFit. It's not only the premium versions that have it.

What does iFit do?

The primary appeal of iFit is the interactive fitness activities that you may access and stream straight into your living room. These sessions are offered multiple times a day and are led by world-class instructors, with more advanced versions being able to remotely alter your system's settings.

iFit takes all of your favourite workouts from the gyms you've tried. With so many options, it might be difficult for you to decide where to start. You can also set up an account with iFit and sync it with MyFitnessPal, which allows users who own both apps to view their fitness data in one place.

You pick an activity from the iFit library based on your goals and requirements. You can also choose a duration for each workout. The following are some of the options available when creating a plan:

  • Duration: Allow you to work out at any time of day or night.
  • If you like a trainer's style, stick with them and work with them on a regular basis.
  • Intensity: Choose a setting that matches your fitness level.
  • Target Area: Blast your belly, crush your chest, smash your shoulders, whatever you need
  • Cardio, rehabilitation, and other choices are all examples of search categories

iFit will train you in any part of the globe, whether it's across country or across a certain environment: iFit allows you to workout all around the world.

When you connect to a class, an automatic leader-board appears on the right side of the screen. This is completely adjustable and filterable by stats, such as age, distance, and gender. One thing we appreciate is that you can also filter by live users if you're working out live, allowing you to compete with other people who are currently training.

Virtual Workouts

Another significant benefit of iFit-enabled exercise equipment is that they may be used for virtual workouts, which follow paths all around the world thanks to Google Maps.

How It Works Is Simple. You simply create a route in Google Maps, and the computer takes care of the rest, generating a virtual route that your exercise equipment will follow in terms of resistance and incline while images from your tablet or screen show you Google-sourced pictures or video, allowing you to work out as though you were physically elsewhere.

You may ride a mountain range or traverse the Great Wall of China with iFit.

iFit Workout Series

The iFit series is a fantastic way to get in shape. They're a set of exercises that will help you reach your desired end result. The collection created to help you acclimate to the iFit programs and improve your fitness level, no matter where you are, is called Four Weeks to iFit.

Automatic Adjustment

With LiveU's software, you can now use your mobile device to connect with a compatible Fitbit or Apple Watch. You'll get a guided workout that will follow along with any movements of the equipment in the class. During this simultaneous session, it is possible to challenge and strengthen joints without using dumbbells or other strength training equipment.

The iFit Rewards Program

iFit has started offering monthly perks for meeting goals, which are linked to their social media accounts. While it's not significant, it's worth noting because it's nice to have a little extra push.

Are there any downsides?

There is just one minor drawback to the iFit library: finding the exercises you want to do. If you find the right one, make sure to favourite it since there is no search function right now; all you have to do is scroll through until you come upon the workouts you desire. Every. Single. Time.

Another factor that you must consider is that the service costs money, but we believe it's more than worth the cost.

How much does iFit cost?

iFit price plans are as follows:

Monthly Train Membership - $15/month or £14/month
Yearly Train Membership - $144/month or £134/year
Monthly Pro Membership (5 users) - $39/month or £34/month
Yearly Pro Membership (5 users) - $396/month or £349/year.

If you choose a monthly membership, the subscriptions are billed every 30 days, and you’re free to cancel it whenever you want.

It is worth noting that the Train membership can only be used on bluetooth iFit compatible machines (no touchscreen). Whereas the Pro membership works on both touchscreen and bluetooth models. So this might play a deciding factor in which product you choose to purchase.

All of the iFit content will be accessible to each user, with the exception of their login information, workouts, statistics, and goals. So everyone's happy!

How Many Users are Allowed On a iFit Family Subscription?

With the iFit family membership you may add secondary users to your iFit account up to four individuals (five total users).

Is iFit worth it?

In our view, iFit is well worth the money. The incredible variety of workout routines and classes that are available, as well as all of the interactive elements, gives you unprecedented freedom to work out from the comfort of your own home.

Then consider the expense, which is far less than a gym membership when compared to time spent in a fitness centre, and it begins to make sense why so many individuals are adopting exercise routines like this in record numbers.

Another great advantage of iFit is the psychological boost you get from working with others and with real trainers.

When you know that you're working out in a group, you push yourself harder and are far more accountable. You're more likely to complete your workouts, work harder, give up less, and achieve your objectives.

Do machines work without iFit?

You may have heard that in order to use a NordicTrack exercise machine or other iFit-enabled equipment, you'll need an active iFit membership.

There's a reason why this myth has spread so far. For a (extremely) short period of time, it was accurate. NordicTrack released a commercial trainer that required iFit information or else you couldn't use it, as far back as 2017. However, everyone soon understood how terrible an idea this was, thus it was abandoned.

So don't worry, your sparkly new exercise equipment is yours to enjoy right out of the box. If you want to use it online, you'll have to provide personal information and sign up for an iFit account, but you don't need one.

It's also worth noting that most iFit machines come with a free month of membership, so the debate is pointless for at least the first month.

Can you use iFit without a machine?

Yes, you can. iFit may be accessed from any smartphone or tablet with the iFIT app, allowing you to follow along with any of the company's standard workouts at home.

While you won't get the full iFit experience from your phone, this does enable you to test it out before purchasing a system and seeing whether it's suitable for you.

Final thoughts

In our opinion, interactive exercise programs will become the norm. Having access to a world-class trainer and a high-quality commercial level workout is such a significant advantage that it cannot be overstated.

When you compare the enormous number of classes and all of the perks your membership offers with a commercial gym membership's cost, iFit looks to be a no-brainer.

Is it worth the investment? Our answer is yes. If you're serious about your health and fitness, you should invest in it; one of the greatest ways to stay active at home right now is through iFit lessons.
