JLL S300 Review

The JLL S300 treadmill, priced at £589.99 at the time of writing this, sits comfortably as a mid-range home treadmill.

As you might be well aware, you’ll know prices can vary significantly for a new treadmill, ranging from under £200 for entry-level models to thousands of pounds for high-end machines.

The S300 aims to find the sweet spot, offering a balance between quality and affordability.

While there are cheaper models available, we typically recommend steering clear of anything too budget-friendly as these tend to lack durability.

Getting Up and Running

Firstly, the delivery process was relatively smooth. It took five days, which is reasonable considering the size and weight, and it arrived via a two-man delivery service.

This is particularly important as treadmills treadmills are particularly awkward to handle.

Likewise, when it comes to assembling the treadmill, having an extra set of hands makes the process much easier.

Overall, the assembly is relatively straightforward, taking about 45 minutes to complete. JLL provides all the tools needed, and the instructions were clear enough for most users to manage the setup on their own.

Running Experience

When it comes to performance, the JLL S300 offers a surprisingly smooth and comfortable running experience, which is one of the most important factors for any treadmill.

The 16-point cushioned deck absorbs much of the impact from your stride, reducing the stress on your joints.

While having a cushioned deck is nice, some models have too much spring in the deck which can make them feel bouncy. But S300 had no such issue as it strikes a good balance.

The motor is another key element in treadmill performance, and the JLL S300 doesn't disappoint. Equipped with a 4.5HP motor, it easily reaches speeds of up to 16kph.

Even when using the incline settings, the motor remains steady and shows no signs of struggling. For a treadmill at this price point, it is a surprisingly strong motor, many budget models can feel underpowered when pushed to their limits.

The speed and incline range should be more than enough for casual runners and those looking for moderate to high-intensity workouts.

With a running area of 132cm x 41cm, the S300 offers enough room for most users, including those on the taller side. While it may not be the most spacious deck on the market, it is sufficient for a comfortable run without feeling cramped.

Display

The 5” backlit display provides clear and easy-to-read information, tracking the basic workout metrics like speed, time, distance, calories, and pulse.

Although the screen isn’t large by modern standards, it does a good job of delivering the data you need without any unnecessary clutter.

Given the price point, the screen is functional rather than flashy, and it serves its purpose well.

However, it does come with 15 built-in workout programs, which help to keep your workouts interesting.

In addition, heart rate sensors are built into the side handrails, which are easy to hold onto but aren’t particularly accurate.

This is a common issue with handrail sensors on treadmills, so it’s not a major surprise.

So, if you’re serious about tracking your heart rate during exercise, it would be worth investing in a chest strap monitor, which tends to be much more reliable and accurate.

Storage

One of the advantages of the JLL S300 is its foldable design, which can significantly reduce its footprint when not in use.

Once folded, the dimensions are reduced to 135cm (H) x 107cm (L) x 72cm (W), which will free up a considerable amount of floor space.

However, like most folding treadmills, it still takes up some room, so don’t expect it to disappear entirely. If you want a treadmill that folds down even more, then we would recommend seeing our review of the WalkingPad R2.

JLL S300 Folded

Regarding the folding deck, JLL has also included a soft drop mechanism, which gently lowers the running deck when you’re unfolding it.

This is a welcome feature, especially when compared to many similarly priced models that don’t include small details like this. It prevents the deck from slamming down, which can be both noisy and potentially damaging to the machine over time.

To make life easier when moving the machine, there are transport wheels. This is particularly useful if you need to shift the treadmill between rooms or out of the way when not in use.

More About JLL Fitness

JLL is a UK-based company, which is always a bonus for us as we like to support local businesses whenever possible.

The brand has built a solid reputation for its customer service, which adds extra peace of mind when investing in any large purchase.

If something goes wrong, having responsive and accessible customer service can make all the difference.

In addition, JLL has a showroom in Birmingham, so you can see the equipment in person before buying if you want to.

The warranty that comes with the JLL S300 is also worth noting. It includes a two-year warranty on parts and labour, along with a five-year motor warranty. This level of coverage shows JLL’s confidence in their machine compared to other brands in the same price range.

Final Verdict

The JLL S300 strikes an excellent balance between price and performance. While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of more expensive models, it covers the essentials and does so reliably.

The cushioned deck, sturdy motor, and foldable design make it a solid choice for anyone looking to invest in a mid-range treadmill that will deliver a good workout.
Plus, supporting a UK based business is always a bonus in our book.

However, there are a few downsides, like the somewhat inaccurate heart rate sensors, but overall, the S300 offers great value for money.

If you’re in the market for a treadmill that delivers on the fundamentals without breaking the bank, the JLL S300 is worth considering.
