NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Overview

NordicTrack 2450 Treadmill

Before we get to reviewing the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill, what we need to say is that the Home Gym Supply team decided the 2450 was their all-around number 1 choice if you have the budget.

The big reason for this is because it's so highly adaptable. It features many different modes, incline and decline adjustments, guided fitness tours with iFit, and so much more.

Overall, we're giving it a 4.7 out of 5-star rating, and the only reason it doesn't get a perfect five-star review is that it has just a couple of minor drawbacks, although they certainly aren't any deal breakers.

What it comes down to is that this unit has a variety of features that allow anybody of any fitness level to engage in comfortable and effective exercise.

It's all about being able to easily choose your speed, incline, running mode, and more, so you can get to burning calories as intended.

Something else worth noting is that our team haven't just tested the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill by running on it. Our engineers assemble this machine regularly and we get feedback directly from a wide range of users and get to see any issues first-hand.

So, without further ado, let's take a much closer look at the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill to see exactly what it can do for you and whether or not it's worth purchasing.

NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Review

Now we're going to take a closer look at all of the main features, benefits, and factors that you need to consider if you plan on purchasing the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill.

General Functionality

2450 running

Overall, the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 is a very comfortable treadmill to run on, and this is in part thanks to NordicTracks trademarked "Runners Flex Cushioning" system used in the running deck.

Moreover, the 3.6 CHP motor has plenty of power to deliver a smooth run even on a steep incline and fast pace while still being quiet.

Just in case you are wondering, when looking at the power of a motor, CHP is slightly different to HP which can be confusing. CHP means continuous horse power whereas HP will often refer to the peak horsepower. Some manufacturers like to list HP instead of CHP as the number tends to be bigger and looks more impressive.

The 1.9-inch rollers that the belt moves over provide enough grip to deliver the power from the motor to the running belt and we had no issues with slippage.

The incline and decline functions worked perfectly and didn't make much noise when being adjusted.

Although the motor does of course get a bit louder when running at top speed, this is perfectly normal. Even your feet landing on the deck as you run at full pace isn't overly loud.

As you'll see further below, what also needs to be said about the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill is that the display is very intuitive and easy to use, not to mention easy to read as well.

Durability and Overall Construction Quality

NordicTrack 2450 being folded

Seeing as we are talking about a high-end commercial-grade treadmill and the top-of-line model from NordicTrack we expect this treadmill to last.

We tried multiple times to put it through its paces but it was tougher than us and was able to run on a steep incline longer than we could last.

As the top of the range model in NordicTracks Commercial line, we have high expectations and it didn't disappoint.

When talking about durability it is worth noting that it has a good weight capacity 135kg weight capacity and from what we could tell would be able to handle more.

3.6 CHP Drive System

What stands out about the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill is that it features a 3.6 CHP motor which is a powerful motor for a home treadmill.

As a result, the motor has no problem reaching a top speed of 19kph at the max incline of 12%.

So if you are looking to do long-distance and high-speed running, then the 2450 has more than enough power to do both.

The top speed of 19kph is plenty quick enough for most users, although the older models used to go up to 22kph.

But we have seen the top speed of all their treadmills come down to 19kph. We haven't yet managed to find out why, but it is likely a health and safety issue that forced them to do it.

When you engage the incline or decline, you will hear a slight noise as it adjusts but it is quieter than most home treadmills.

New Modern Z-Frame

z frame design

Next up we are looking at the frame which was changed to the Z-frame design from the 2022 model update.

We are a big fan of the new Z frame as it looks great and also lines up quite nicely when in the folded position.

But what matters is whether the frame is strong and stable when being used and thanks to the steel used in the frame it certainly is.

NordicTrack has confidence in its frame's strength and offers a 10-year warranty just in case it somehow fails.

When running on this treadmill, it's really easy to feel just how solid it is. It doesn't bend, creek, or make any other noises that it shouldn't be making.

This frame also features textured plastic on the side handles as well as the continuous horizontal front handle.

Overall, the handles are very easy and comfortable to grip if you need to hold onto something or if you are hopping on and off the deck in a HIIT workout.

What many people like about this model of treadmill is that the side handles aren't too wide or far away, so they're within easy reach no matter your size.

The new Z frame design has also enabled NordicTrack to make the screen pivot so you can rotate the screen and follow along to different types of iFit workouts.

It doesn't take up too much space and as we mentioned earlier, it can be folded to save extra space when you aren't using the machine.

The Deck

Another important component that has a big impact on your running experience is the running deck.

Firstly, the 2450 is built with the trademarked runners flex cushioning system which feels stable and well cushioned but not springy which can be an issue on some treadmills.

The running area is also spacious at 51cm x 152cm so even if you are tall with a long stride length there is plenty of room to stretch your legs. Plus, having the extra long running deck comes in useful for the steep 12% incline.

In addition to the incline, you can also go to a decline of -3%. We don't see this very often, especially on folding treadmills. Being able to incline and decline adds an extra dimension to your workouts to mix up your training.

When you first try the decline feature it can feel a little odd, so make sure to take it easy at first.

Although this model doesn't incline quite as much as the previous model which was 15%. 12% feels like more than enough and running at an incline of 12 degrees is extremely difficult.

One other change they made to the updated model was a slightly narrower running deck, reduced from 56cm to 51cm.

While this might sound like a bad thing, it hasn't affected the running experience at all but is one factor that has helped to reduce the width of the treadmill by 9cm. So, we see this as a good thing as the overall treadmill is considerably smaller.

The Console, Display, and Integrated Workouts

NordicTrack 2450 Console

One of the most eye-catching features of the Nordictrack 2450 is the large 22" HD Smart touchscreen.

When NordicTrack first started adding big touchscreens to their equipment they weren't always very responsive, but they seem to have overcome these issues and the screen feels fluid to use.

NordicTrack also feature swivel screens on their exercise bikes, as seen in our NordicTrack S27i Review.

A nice new feature that older models weren't able to do is swivel the screen. As we mentioned earlier this is due to the new Z frame design. However, being able to swivel the screen allows you to take full advantage of all iFit has to offer.

Speaking of which, the 2450 is iFit enabled so it's designed to be used with iFit. So bear in mind the app isn't free but you do get a 30-day free trial with the treadmill.

But if you decide you don't want to pay the monthly membership you can still use the treadmill and have access to a few pre-programmed workouts.

However, we do highly recommend iFit and consider it to be one of the best interactive fitness apps on the market.

It gives you access to thousands of workouts and not just running. You can turn the screen and follow along to a strength workout or yoga for your recovery days. Or make your own running path on Google Maps and run a route of your choice.

The 22" screen is big enough that if you want to swivel the screen and workout to the side of the machine you can still see it clearly. This was one slight issue with the smaller 1750 model which looks almost identical but has a 14" display.

What's also quite impressive is that the screen has been upgraded in such a way as to prevent it from shaking or wobbling while you run, even when doing a high-intensity run.

While having a touchscreen is nice, it isn't always very practical to use while you are running. But this isn't an issue as there are quick control buttons on either side of the console which control the speed and incline to set levels.

Warranty

Although the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill is designed to be commercial spec, the simple reality is that things sometimes go wrong. So having a good warranty in place is important.

If you are in the US you get a 10-year frame warranty, a two-year part warranty, and a one-year labor warranty.

If you are in the UK you get a 10-year frame warranty and 2 years of parts and labour if you registered the product with NordicTrack within 28 days. Otherwise, you only get a 1-year warranty. So make sure to register your warranty!

NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill Review – The Verdict

NordicTrack Commercial 2450

At the end of the day, the NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill  is an absolutely fantastic commercial grade treadmill to consider. It comes complete with all of the bells and whistles that you need to get an effective workout.

It has a really solid frame, deck, and a great console, not to mention that its functionality is absolutely out of this world.

While it price tag is more than a lot of people would want to spend on a treadmill, you are getting a premium treadmill and it is in cheaper than a lot of smiliar quality machines out there.
